Cookies Policy
How The Chair uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and app.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit a website. They let the site remember information about your visit — like your login state, your preferences, or how you interact with the page.
We also use similar technologies such as:
- Local storage: data stored in your browser or mobile app for offline use
- Pixels: small tracking images used in emails and web pages
- SDKs: mobile-app equivalents of cookies used for analytics and crash reporting
For simplicity we refer to all of these as "cookies" throughout this policy.
How we use cookies
We categorize cookies into four groups: Strictly necessary, Preferences, Analytics, and Marketing. Only the first category is loaded by default — you can accept or reject the others through our consent banner.
Strictly necessary
These cookies are essential for the site to function. Without them, features like signing in, remembering your session, and completing bookings won't work. You can't opt out.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| tc_session | Keeps you signed in | Session |
| tc_csrf | Protects forms from cross-site attacks | Session |
| tc_consent | Remembers your cookie preferences | 12 months |
| tc_lang | Remembers your language choice | 12 months |
Preferences
These remember your choices to give you a better experience — things like your city, dark-mode preference, or which barber list you last viewed.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| tc_city | Remembers your selected city | 12 months |
| tc_theme | Remembers your theme preference | 12 months |
| tc_recent | Remembers barbers you recently viewed | 30 days |
Analytics
Help us understand how visitors use The Chair so we can improve it. This data is aggregated and doesn't identify you personally.
| Cookie / Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _ga (Google Analytics) | Distinguishes unique visitors | 2 years |
| _ga_<id> (Google Analytics) | Session state | 2 years |
| _gid (Google Analytics) | Distinguishes users for 24h | 24 hours |
| tc_perf | Performance & crash telemetry | 30 days |
Marketing
Used to measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns and — with your consent — show you relevant messaging on other sites. We do not run in-app ads.
| Cookie / Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _fbp (Meta Pixel) | Measures ad performance for our campaigns | 3 months |
| tc_utm | Records which campaign brought you to the site | 30 days |
Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by third parties whose services we embed (for example, video players, payment processors, analytics tools). We don't control these cookies directly. Here are the main third parties we work with:
- Google (Analytics & Fonts): policies.google.com/privacy
- Meta (Pixel): facebook.com/privacy/policy
- Stripe (Payments): stripe.com/privacy
- Instagram (Embeds): privacycenter.instagram.com/policy
How to control cookies
Through our consent banner
When you first visit The Chair, our cookie banner lets you accept all, reject non-essential, or customize your choices. You can change your preferences any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the footer of any page.
Through your browser
All modern browsers let you view, block or delete cookies through the settings menu. Here are direct links to the guides for the most common ones:
Through your device
On iOS and Android you can reset or opt out of app tracking through your device's privacy settings.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. There's no industry standard for how sites should respond, so we currently don't. You can control tracking through our consent banner instead.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time — for example, if we add a new tool or remove one. When we make changes, we'll refresh the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you before they take effect.
